  bramley apple and yorkshire bramble crumble = treat. ONLY when eaten with custard. ice cream would do only in a custard shortage

cake 125 g dark chocolate  3 tbsp milk 150 g butter 150 g caster sugar  3 eggs 200 g plain flour  1 tbsp good quality cocoa powder 1 tsp baking powder 1/4 tsp bicarbonate of soda chocolate butter icing  75 g butter 1 tbsp cream 1 tsp vanilla extract  175 g icing sugar  1 tbsp good quality cocoa powder i love brownies but the cost of that much chocolate makes them...

I bought a story book ‘The Wise Robin’, worth a read and ‘Birds and how they live’ So i remember reading them when I was a kid, but this is different. I was never aware of the non-fiction categories, never mind the condensed form in which they limit subjects to a few pages. They fascinate me and, of course, amuse.  These few i bought because I am bird mad. Much better...

boring postcards
finally purchased the book ‘boring postcards’. in amongst mand other local gems was this beauty scunthorpe this is where I’m from and i kind of like it. its home i don’t know what date this postcard is but this exact view definately hasn’t changed one bit. apart from the sun shines a bit less these days i find.

bought myself a joyous tea set. just loved the rose print. the woman in the shop told me it was worth nothing with a tone of classic manc bitterness. really encouraging people to give to charity. £5. from chorlton oh yeah, and a real oil painting 99p. from hebden bridge

dorothy bohm - a world observed; a retrospective currently on at manchester art gallery. the exhibition is incredible, and the images on show are ones that arn’t available readily. such beautiful, precious gems. already been round it twice and i think im going to have to go again. shes a wonder.

went to sheffield to check out the antiques centre. stopped in at the cafe which cannot be missed. sooo cheap and the best menu ever. i had a cream tea while i lusted over the sugar bowl on the table. also visited the furniture shops and charity shops while i was there. had a brilliant day and purchased a few wonders to decorate the home.  aswell as spying some shabby chic moments on camera....

never give up on charity shops. if you have a bad visit and don’t find anything, dont let it put you off. go back and youre sure to find gems again typewriter £2 casserole dish, ‘made in yugoslavia’ £3.49 pyrex floral number, the list goes on and on such joy, for cheaps. mirrors, pictures, postcards, placemats, lampshades they out do vintage shops by a mile for JOY
